At work, I like “regards” in not-quite-formal email and even “cheers” in rare chatty cases. I used to like neither. And of course usually nothing - but I always include a signature block if its not already downthread, because who likes looking up phone numbers?

Our pediatrician’s pet theory is that in Silicone valley, guys without social skills can still pull mates and thus pass the genes on. I think the educated parents are probably just more aware of what to look and test for.
